Paul Dean is a Senior Lecturer in Microbiology at Teesside University's School of Health and Life Science (SHLS). His research focuses on understanding pathogen infection mechanisms and host responses, particularly in microbes like E. coli, Salmonella, and Microsporidia. He employs advanced microscopy techniques to study protein transporters enabling pathogens to exploit host cells. Dean lectures in Biomedical Science, Dietetics, and Microbiology programs, covering modules such as Medical Microbiology and Immunology. He actively engages in outreach via STEMulate and moderates Access to HE Diplomas.
