Dr. Camilla Godlee is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Department of Pathology. Her research focuses on bacterial virulence proteins' interactions with eukaryotic membranes during infections by pathogens like Salmonella and E. coli, which cause millions of annual infections globally.
She investigates how bacterial proteins manipulate host membrane trafficking pathways and develop unique mechanisms to overcome eukaryotic membrane sorting challenges, providing insights into host-pathogen interactions and cellular membrane biology. Her work spans molecular microbiology, immunology, and cellular biology.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding transmembrane effector proteins, vesicular trafficking hijacking, and immune evasion strategies. The Godlee group welcomes inquiries from prospective interns, students, and researchers.
