Paul De Grauwe holds the John Paulson Chair in European Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), affiliated with the European Institute. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1974.
His research focuses on the economics of monetary union and behavioural macroeconomics. He is renowned for his textbook The Economics of Monetary Union (14th edition) and works like Lectures on Behavioral Macroeconomics (2012) and Behavioural Macroeconomics. Theory and Policy (2019, co-authored with Yuemei Ji).
His recent articles (2024) analyze inflation management without bank transfers, bridging macroeconomic theory and policy. These works emphasize monetary policy dynamics, central banking strategies, and behavioural insights in European economic contexts.
