Paul Dalhaimer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, within the Tickle College of Engineering. His research focuses on nanoparticle design for drug delivery, lipid droplet dynamics, and molecular mechanisms of autophagy. He holds a BS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University studying actin cytoskeleton dynamics.
Research Interests:
- Engineering nanoparticles with optimized biological interactions
- Autophagy regulation in disease contexts
- Lipid droplet formation and breakdown pathways
- Molecular dynamics simulations of biological systems
Recent work highlights nanoparticle interactions with macrophages, obesity's effects on drug delivery, and SR-BI receptor targeting strategies. His studies integrate biophysical modeling with in vitro and in vivo experiments to bridge nanotechnology and clinical applications.
His scientific contributions emphasize translational research at the interface of chemical engineering and biomedical science, with a focus on improving drug delivery systems through fundamental mechanistic insights.
