Paul Cunningham

Paul Cunningham is a Senior Lecturer in Neurological Physiotherapy at the University of the West of England (UWE), affiliated with the Health and Applied Sciences faculty and the Allied Health Professions department. He works as a clinical-academic, splitting his time between UWE (Mondays/Tuesdays) and Sirona Health and Care where he serves as a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and Team Lead for the Integrated Community Stroke Service.

His research interests focus on neurological rehabilitation, particularly in stroke rehabilitation and physiotherapy. His work encompasses neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy, neuroscience applications in rehabilitation, physical activity promotion, and clinical reasoning in physical assessment. His expertise spans both clinical practice and academic research in neurological physiotherapy.

Mr. Cunningham is involved in the Reach to Grasp Project, which appears to be a collaborative research initiative focused on neurological rehabilitation. His dual role allows him to bridge clinical practice with academic teaching and research, ensuring his work remains grounded in real-world patient care while contributing to the advancement of physiotherapy knowledge.
