Professor Paul Chapman is the Director of Emerging Technology at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA). Previously, he served as Head of the School of Simulation and Visualisation (SimVis) at GSA and Director of the Hull Immersive Visualisation Centre. He holds BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Computer Science, and is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional. His professional recognitions include Fellowship of the British Computer Society and membership in the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Young Academy.
His research focuses on immersive visualization technologies, digital heritage, and augmented reality applications. Notable projects include the 'Decolonising the British Empire Exhibition through A.R. Narratives,' which reimagines historical narratives using advanced technologies.
Prof Chapman's leadership roles reflect his expertise in bridging academic research with innovative technological applications. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and the ethical use of emerging technologies in cultural and educational contexts.
