Paul Bowker is an Assistant Lecturer in European Languages at Monash University's Faculty of Arts, specializing in Spanish and Latin American Studies. His research focuses on Transatlantic Studies, post-imperial and postcolonial dynamics between Spain and Latin America, and the cultural implications of migration and transnational identity formation. He holds a PhD from The University of Auckland (2010) and has taught since 2004 in New Zealand and Australia. Currently, he is revising a book project exploring post-1898 Spanish and Latin American literary responses to imperial decline.

Research interests include comparative Peninsular and Latin American literatures, transnational identity formation, and Spain's post-imperial cultural narratives. Recent projects include co-leading the 'Decolonising and Indigenising European Languages' initiative at Monash.
Publications span articles and book chapters analyzing travel literature, postcolonial identities, and the literary responses to historical shifts like Spain's loss of its colonies in 1898. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to cultural preservation and equitable knowledge systems.
