Professor Paul Amminger is a Professorial Research Fellow at Orygen and Professor of Youth Mental Health at the University of Melbourne's Centre for Youth Mental Health. His work focuses on neurobiological mechanisms, neuroprotection, and low-risk interventions for youth at ultra-high risk of psychosis and affective disorders. He pioneered omega-3 fatty acid interventions for psychosis prevention and has led clinical teams in Vienna and Melbourne.
Research interests include schizophrenia prevention, early psychosis intervention, and translational research into clinical practice. Key projects include the Cannabidiol Early Psychosis Project (randomized trial) and the PRE-EMPT Centre of Research Excellence (predicting mental disorders).
