Patty West is a Lecturer at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches the Plants and Planting Design Audit Workshop. She holds a B.S. in Natural Resources - Behavior and Policy Planning from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Her professional background includes over a decade as an Associate at Andropogon Associates, LLC, managing projects for municipal and academic clients. She currently works with the National Park Service within the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Her research interests focus on environmental processes, landscape restoration, and sustainable design. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Landscape Restoration at Philadelphia University and as a water quality monitoring instructor for the Global Rivers Environmental Education Network.
Patty emphasizes public engagement with environmental stewardship, integrating ecological dynamics into design practices. Her work bridges analytical environmental science with practical design solutions for urban and natural landscapes.
