William Young is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design, where he teaches part-time in the Master of Landscape Architecture program. He specializes in ecological restoration, wetland ecology, and sustainable practices. With over 33 years of experience, he has worked across multiple states in both public and private sectors, focusing on habitat restoration, wetland monitoring, and large-scale site reclamation.

- B.S. Environmental Science/Landscape Architecture, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (1977)
Research & Projects: His work includes restoring Yellow Bar Hassock in Jamaica Bay, capping landfills at Pennsylvania Avenue and Fountain Avenue, and transforming Fresh Kills Landfill into New York City’s largest park. He also collaborates with The Gaia Institute on green infrastructure projects, such as ‘Green Streets’ and stormwater management systems in the Jamaica Bay watershed.

Professional Affiliations: Member of the Society for Ecological Restoration, Society of Wetland Scientists, and other environmental organizations. He founded Young Environmental, LLC, a design/build firm focused on ecological restoration.
