Pattie Pryma, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Mount Royal University. Her academic career integrates nursing practice with creative arts therapies, focusing on mental health, self-care, and advocacy for marginalized populations. She holds a PhD from the University of Alberta and a Post-Master's Art Therapy Diploma from St. Stephen’s College.

Her research emphasizes creative modalities like art journaling and art therapy to address stress in academic and clinical settings. Her 2022 publication explores art-based self-care strategies for faculty and students in higher education.
Dr. Pryma has presented globally, including in Ethiopia and Japan, on topics ranging from midwifery education to trauma recovery. She actively contributes to community initiatives like grief counseling for youth and seniors through Art Therapy programs in High River, Alberta.
