Professor Patti Hunter serves as a Professor of Mathematics at Westmont College, where she has taught since 2000. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Virginia and earned her undergraduate degree from Westmont College.
Her research focuses on the history of mathematics, including the formation of scientific communities, the history of statistics in the U.S., and the internationalization of science during the Cold War. She has published works on Cold War-era international statistics education and foundations of statistics in American textbooks.
Professor Hunter received the 2007 Teacher of the Year Award at Westmont. She has also led academic programs such as Westmont in Mexico (2009). Beyond academia, she enjoys Agatha Christie films, tennis, baking bread, and the 'positive effects of chocolate on mathematical cognition.'
