Patrik Nasr is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He holds a medical degree from Linköping University (2013), completed residencies in internal medicine and gastroenterology/hepatology at Linköping University Hospital, and conducted a postdoc at Karolinska Institutet under the Hagström group. His research focuses on non-invasive diagnosis and epidemiology of chronic liver diseases, particularly NAFLD/MASLD, and their relationship with sarcopenia and body composition.
Education highlights include a medical degree (2007–2013), residency training in internal medicine/gastroenterology (2015–present), and a postdoc (2020–present). Teaching roles include co-supervision of PhD students and examiner duties in medical programs.
Research interests span novel diagnostic methods (e.g., MRI, biomarkers), fibrosis progression, and sarcopenia's role in disease outcomes. He leads projects like ACCESS-ESLD and participates in networks like PAINOMICS and WCMM. His work emphasizes translating imaging and biochemical data into clinical tools for early detection and risk stratification.
Key collaborations include the Hagström Group, AMRA Medical AB, and the Study Group of Ectopic Fat Storage. His articles address biomarkers, disease progression, and comorbidities, with a focus on improving non-invasive diagnostic accuracy and understanding metabolic-liver-cardiovascular interconnections.
