Patrick Michael Hare

Patrick Michael Hare is Professor of Chemistry (Physical Chemistry) in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Northern Kentucky University's College of Arts and Sciences, a position held since 2023 after progressing from Assistant (2008–2014) to Associate Professor (2014–2023). His academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University (2007) and a B.A. in Chemistry with Computer Science minor from Case Western Reserve University (2001).

His research centers on photophysics and photochemistry of environmental contaminants, particularly endocrine-disrupting compounds. Using UV/VIS spectroscopy, time-resolved fluorescence, mass spectrometry, and computational methods, his group investigates solvent effects and excited-state dynamics while pioneering AI integration in chemistry education. Collaborative projects span NMR spectroscopy and biological pollutant tracking.
