Dr. Patrick McGaha is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Head Baseball Coach at Harding University. In his 18th year as coach, he boasts a 472-374 record, leading the Harding Bisons to 11 conference tournament appearances and their first NCAA Tournament berth. He is the longest-tenured coach in the Great American Conference and among the top 50 active NCAA Division II coaches in career wins. McGaha's teams have excelled both athletically and academically, earning numerous accolades such as the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award and GAC Sportsmanship Award.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Sports Pedagogy, Florida State University (1997–2000)
- M.Ed., Department of Kinesiology, Harding University (1993–1995)
- B.A. in Physical Education, Harding University (1988–1991)
Research Interests: Focuses on coaching methodologies, the role of silence in leadership, and fostering team culture. His expertise bridges athletic performance and pedagogical strategies in sports.

- His teams have received ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award (7 consecutive years), GAC Sportsmanship Award (6 times in 9 years), and individual player recognitions like the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove.
Advising & Leadership: Mentored student-athletes earning 64 all-conference, 11 all-region, and 3 all-America honors. Over 100 academic awards include CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America distinctions. His defensive strategies ranked teams in top 25 nationally in fielding percentage for 8 seasons.
Teams & Legacy: Revitalized programs at Harding and College of the Ozarks, achieving historic milestones like the 2011 NCAA Tournament debut and Ozarks’ first NAIA National Tournament berth. Holds a 591-470-1 lifetime coaching record across 21 seasons.
