Patrick M. Connors is the Albert and Angela Farone Distinguished Professor of New York Civil Practice at Albany Law School, where he teaches New York Practice and Legal Ethics. He previously served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Syracuse University College of Law (1991–1999). He holds a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was a Law Review editor. After clerking for Judge Richard D. Simons of the New York Court of Appeals (1988–1991), he practiced law at Hancock & Estabrook, LLP (1991–2000). Connors is a leading authority on New York Civil Practice, authoring the New York Practice treatise (6th ed.) and McKinney’s Practice Commentaries for CPLR sections. His work has been cited in over 130 reported cases.
He serves on multiple legal committees, including the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Professional Ethics and previously chaired panels on judicial conduct and non-lawyer ownership of law firms. Connors frequently lectures on ethics, civil procedure, and legal malpractice, and has been a Visiting Scholar at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center (2015).
His publications span treatises, commentaries, and columns in the New York Law Journal, focusing on CPLR interpretation, judicial ethics, and professional responsibility. He has advised on over 100 legal ethics matters and consulted on civil procedure reforms.
