Patrick Kumavor is an Assistant Professor in Residence at the University of Connecticut within the College of Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on developing innovative ultrasound and fiber optic imaging systems for in vivo early-stage cancer detection, leveraging near-infrared (NIR) light absorption properties of blood to enhance optical contrast in deep tissue imaging.
Dr. Kumavor's work integrates ultrasound transducers into optical systems to utilize the photoacoustic effect, overcoming light scattering limitations in biological tissues.
