David Pierce is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut's College of Engineering. He is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Mechanics Laboratory and focuses on computational and experimental solid (bio)mechanics, finite element methods, and applied mathematics. His research includes developing 3D large strain constitutive models for articular cartilage and integrating medical imaging data (e.g., diffusion tensor MRI, multiphoton microscopy) for applications in cartilage mechanics (health/disease), arterial mechanics, and MEMS fracture prediction in collaboration with A.M. Fitzgerald & Associates, LLC.
