Patrick Fulton is an Assistant Professor and Croll Sesquicentennial Fellow in Cornell University's Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, joining in 2019. His research focuses on hydrologic and thermal processes in fault zones, with applications to earthquake physics, tectonic processes, and geothermal energy systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Geosciences from Penn State (2008) and prior appointments at Texas A&M University (2016–2019). Key projects include the Earth Source Heat initiative, a DOE-funded geothermal exploration effort, and studies on slow slip earthquakes at Antarctic ice streams. His work integrates observation, numerical modeling, and field experiments.
Education: A.S. (Young Harris College, 1999), B.S. (Georgia Tech, 2001), Ph.D. (Penn State, 2008).
Awards include the BRB2020 Cohort (2020) and Croll Fellowship (2019). His research explores fault zone hydrology, thermal signatures of seismic events, and geothermal reservoir characterization. Collaborations include international teams on subduction zone observatories and Antarctic glacial fault studies.
