Patricia Rae

Patricia Rae is Professor and former head of the Department of English Language and Literature at Queen's University, Faculty of Arts and Science. She specializes in literary modernism with focus on British and American literature.

Research interests include:

• Genres of elegy and memoir
• Cultural politics of the 1930s
• Spanish Civil War literature
• World War I narratives
• Theory and practice of mourning
• Literature and visual arts connections
• Imagism and Vorticism movements
• Pragmatist philosophy in poetry

Current projects include a book on George Orwell's relationship with literary modernism and research on elegy and collective memory in the Spanish Civil War.
