Patricia Pulham is a Professor of Victorian Literature and Head of the School of Literature and Languages at the University of Surrey. She serves as President of the British Association for Victorian Studies (BAVS) and holds editorial roles for Victoriographies and Volupté. Her research focuses on 19th-century literature, aesthetic movements like Decadence and Aestheticism, and neo-Victorian cultural adaptations.
She earned a PhD in 2001 from Queen Mary, University of London, and held roles at Portsmouth University, including Reader and Director of Research. Her work bridges literature and visual culture, exploring themes like spiritualism, Gothic elements, and Victorian art.
Recent publications analyze Vernon Lee’s interart aesthetics, neo-Victorian adaptations of Wilde, and occultism in Victorian fiction. She actively supervises PhD students and examines theses internationally. Pulham leads the ORION project and participates in AHRC-funded networks, contributing significantly to Victorian studies scholarship.
