Patricia LiWang is a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Merced, within the School of Natural Sciences. Her office is located in the Biomedical Sciences and Physics Building, Room 275, and her laboratory occupies Room 274 in the same facility.
Dr. LiWang earned her B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987 and completed her Ph.D. at Harvard University in 1992. Her academic career has led her to establish a significant research program at UC Merced focused on protein biochemistry and structural biology.
Her research specializes in structural biology of chemokines with direct applications to HIV and inflammatory diseases. Her laboratory, situated in modern facilities, conducts cutting-edge work on protein-protein interactions and drug delivery systems. The lab has maintained active field research with documented summer activities in Yosemite National Park from 2022-2024.
