Dr. Patricia A. Vitale is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist currently serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology. Her clinical expertise spans diagnosing complex skin and mucosal diseases, including inflammatory, infectious, melanocytic, and neoplastic conditions.
- Education: MD from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Rutgers University), BSN from Duke University School of Nursing.
- Postdoctoral training in dermatopathology at Boston University and New York University; residency in dermatology at Boston University and SUNY Health Science Center; internship in internal medicine at University Health Center of Pittsburgh.
Her research focuses on bridging clinical dermatology with molecular diagnostics, particularly through gene expression analysis in ambiguous neoplasms. She also contributes to structural studies on calcium-binding proteins using advanced spectroscopic and statistical methods.
Dr. Vitale has co-authored influential works such as the Clues To Diagnosis in Dermatopathology series and peer-reviewed publications on diagnostic tools in dermatopathology and protein biochemistry. She remains committed to training future dermatopathologists.
