Patricia Crepin-Obert serves as a Lecturer in Life and Earth Sciences at Université Paris-Est Créteil Val de Marne (UPEC), affiliated with the André Revuz Teaching Laboratory (LDAR - EA 4434). She holds joint appointments across multiple institutions including University of Artois, University of Cergy Pontoise, Paris Diderot University, and University of Rouen. Her research is centered within the LDAR laboratory's mission to study learning, teaching, and training processes in mathematical, physical, and natural sciences.
Her research interests focus on:
- Historical epistemologies in paleontology and related scientific concepts
- Didactics of life and earth sciences through problematization frameworks
- Analysis of classroom debates and epistemological obstacles
- Teacher training methodologies using historical controversies
- Citizen science program implementation in schools
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on historical-scientific integration in education, with significant emphasis on paleontology concepts, fossil interpretation, and human evolution teaching. Her research shows strong methodological commitment to comparative analysis between historical controversies and classroom practices, utilizing video analysis and self-confrontation techniques in teacher training.
As active scientific community member, she serves on editorial committees for Research in Didactics of Science and Technology (RDST) and Research in Didactics journals, while organizing key conferences including AFP-SVT events on hominid evolution teaching and MEEF-SVT dissertations. Her laboratory work within LDAR focuses on developing frameworks for analyzing science teaching practices through historical and epistemological lenses.
