Dr. Patricia Bricker is the Jay M. Robinson Distinguished Professor in Educational Technologies and Professor of Elementary and Middle Grades STEM Education at Western Carolina University (WCU). She holds roles in the College of Education and Allied Professions (CEAP), within the School of Teaching and Learning. Her work focuses on STEM education, science-literacy integration, and teacher professional development. She has led as CEAP Associate Dean and Director of Teacher Education.
Education: EDD (University of Tennessee Knoxville, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education), MS & MSED (University of Rochester), BS (Cornell University).
Research Interests: Prioritizes community engagement, teacher development, and collaborative initiatives like the Western NC Elementary Science/STEM Community of Practice. She partners with educators and professionals to innovate and advocate for science education.
Awards: Honored with prestigious recognitions including the NCSTA’s Jo Duckett Wallace Award and WCU’s Chancellor’s Meritorious Award.
Leadership: Completed WCU’s Leadership Academy, Women’s Leadership in Action, and the UNC BRIDGES Academic Leadership program. Her advising and grants focus on bridging educational theory and practice through community partnerships.
Labs/Teams: Engages with regional educators via the WNC Elementary Science/STEM Community of Practice, fostering collaborative problem-solving and advocacy.
