Patricia Blessing, Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Stanford University, specializes in the art and architecture of the Islamic world, with a focus on the eastern Mediterranean from the twelfth to the sixteenth centuries. She co-directs the digital humanities project Reimagining Royal Space and leads Stanford Digital Architecture, which reconstructs historical monuments lost to conflict or disasters.
Research Interests: Her work explores the intersection of architecture, material culture, and environmental factors, particularly water management in Ottoman buildings (Arches Like Rainbows: Ottoman Water Architectures). She employs eco-critical approaches to analyze how water features shaped architectural design and human interaction with nature.
