
Deniz Turker

Deniz Turker is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Rutgers University, specializing in Islamic and Ottoman visual and material cultures. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, an SMArchS from MIT, and a B.A. from Yale College. His research focuses on late-Ottoman architecture, Islamic art collecting, and the transition from empire to republic in Anatolia.

Selected publications include The Accidental Palace (2023) and articles on Ottoman garden diplomacy, visual archives, and Islamic art journals. His research bridges architectural history with cultural studies, emphasizing the intersections of politics, art, and material culture.
