Dr. Patricia Bastida Rodríguez is a Full Professor of English Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has taught Anglophone literature and gender studies since 2002. She specializes in contemporary writing by women, postcolonial literature, and 21st-century diasporic narratives. Her academic career includes a predoctoral fellowship at the University of Oviedo (1997-2000), where she earned her doctorate with an Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2002) for research on British author Michèle Roberts.
- Current research focuses on identity, gender, and transnationalism in 21st-century Anglophone literature, particularly African and Southeast Asian diasporas
- Member of BRICCS (British and Comparative Cultural Studies) and Intersecciones research groups
- Co-editor of English Studies/Estudis Anglesos collection (since 2008)
Her recent publications analyze cosmopolitanism in Kamila Shamsie’s work, Afropolitan identities in Chika Unigwe’s fiction, and European peripheries in postcolonial narratives. She leads the research project World Travelling (2022-2025), exploring solidarity narratives in contemporary writing. As Vice President of SELICUP, she contributes to academic governance and has served as Academic Secretary (2020-2024) of her department.
