Patrick T. Maher is Full Professor of Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University and Visiting Fellow at the University of Windsor's Centre for Teaching and Learning. An interdisciplinary scholar, he previously served as inaugural Dean of Teaching at Nipissing (2019-2023) and held positions at UNBC, Cape Breton University, and University of Otago.
His research explores experiential education models, northern community engagement, and outdoor pedagogy. As managing editor of the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning and former editor of the Canadian Journal of Environmental Education, he advances scholarship in place-based learning and environmental education.
Honors include:
- 3M National Teaching Fellow (2014)
- Fellow of International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2020)
- Commonwealth Scholarship recipient
