Pascale Cossart is a Professor de Classe Exceptionnelle at the Institut Pasteur, where she leads the Unité des Interactions Bactéries-Cellules and directs the INSERM Unit U604 and INRA Unit USC2020.
- PhD in Physical Sciences from Paris VII University (1977)
- Master of Science from Georgetown University (1971)
Her research focuses on Infectious diseases, particularly bacterial pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions at the molecular level. She has pioneered studies on Listeria monocytogenes as a model organism, integrating cellular microbiology and molecular genetics approaches.
She has received numerous accolades including the Balzan Prize (2013), Heinrich Wieland Prize (2018), and Selman A. Waksman Award in Microbiology (2021). Her work has earned membership in prestigious academies such as the French Académie des Sciences (2002) and US National Academy of Sciences (2009).
