Dr. Parmi Suchdev is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University's School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Rollins School of Public Health and Laney Graduate School. He is a practicing pediatric hospitalist and currently serves as the lead epidemiologist at the CDC's Guatemala office. His expertise spans global health equity, pediatric clinical practice, and public health program management. He holds an MD and MPH from Northwestern University and a Pediatrics degree from the University of Washington.
Research focuses on micronutrient malnutrition's intersection with infectious diseases, contributing to global nutrition policy through over 130 peer-reviewed papers. He pioneered equity-centered global health curricula like GHEARD, addressing anti-racism and decolonization in medical education. Dr. Suchdev chairs the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition and previously directed Emory's Global Health & Equity Office.
Key initiatives include BRINDA project analyses linking malaria/inflammation to iron deficiency and postmortem anthropometry innovations for malnutrition mortality assessment. His work bridges clinical practice, policy, and education to advance health equity globally.
