Parisa Sattar is a Research Fellow in Biomedical Engineering, currently affiliated with DSMSP and working within the MeDSP Lab group at DIEE. Her research focuses on multimodal phenotyping of REM sleep behavior disorders (RBD) and identifying neurodegeneration biomarkers.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience – University of Cagliari
- M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering – NED University of Engineering & Technology
- B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering – Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology
Her technical expertise spans EEG data analysis, functional connectivity modeling, and computational neuroscience tools like SIFT and LORETA. She is involved in the PRIN 2022 project 'Multi-modal phenotyping of idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder,' building on her prior work in neuropathic pain and spinal cord injury studies.
Research projects include:
- 'MeDSP-e: Advanced Medical Devices and Signal Processing for electrophysiology' (under Prof. Danilo Pani)
- 'Multi-modal phenotyping of idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder: statistical and machine learning analysis of neurodegeneration biomarkers' (PRIN 2022, under Prof. Monica Puligheddu)
Her work emphasizes non-pharmacological treatments such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and contributes to disease-modifying trial-ready cohort development for RBD.
