معرفی
Parameswaran Sivan is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, Carleton University. With over 50 years of R&D experience across government labs, private industry, and universities, he holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, along with professional registration as a P.Eng. His work bridges materials science and permafrost engineering, focusing on the physics and mechanics of frozen ground.
Research interests include permafrost aggradation, electrical freezing potentials, Arctic geotechnical challenges, and advanced materials processing. His publications span journals like Mechanics of Materials, Cold Regions Science and Technology, and Canadian Geotechnical Journal, with key contributions to understanding frozen soil creep, frost heave, and electrical phenomena in Arctic environments. He has authored/co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed papers and edited three books on cold regions engineering.
Affiliations include the National Research Council Canada, International Glaciological Society, and TMS (The Metallurgical and Materials Society). He has served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Cold Regions Engineering and organized international workshops on subsea permafrost and gas turbine materials.
