Paolo Santini is a Full Professor of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Parma's Department of Mathematical, Physical and Computer Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Lausanne (1995) and has held roles including visiting scientist at Oxford (1999-2002) and Associate Professor at Parma (2006-2016). He currently chairs the Unified Council of Physics Bachelor's and Master's Programs.
Education: BSc Physics (University of Milan, 1988), PhD Physics (University of Lausanne, 1995). Career highlights include pioneering work on molecular nanomagnets as qubits and quadrupole wave dynamics in uranium dioxide. His research integrates theory with neutron scattering experiments, collaborating with international experimental groups.
Research focuses on: strongly correlated electron systems, actinide magnetism, low-dimensional spin systems, and applications to quantum computing. His work bridges fundamental physics with technological innovation in materials science.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in Physics of Matter, Statistical Physics across multiple degree programs since 2002. Active in curriculum design and academic governance at the University of Parma.
