Michal Vališka

Michal Vališka is a researcher at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics within the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. He serves on faculty advisory bodies, teaches Practicum II in Electricity and Magnetism (NOFY024), and conducts experimental research on uranium-based compounds.

Education:

• Master's degree (2013): Faculty of Physics, Charles University, Condensed Matter Physics and Materials. Thesis: "Superconductivity and magnetism of uranium compounds".
• Ph.D. (2018): Faculty of Physics, Charles University and Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) Grenoble. Dissertation: "Magnetism of 5f-electrons in intermetallic compounds of uranium".

His research centers on experimental investigations of magnetic and superconducting phenomena in uranium intermetallics, focusing on 5f-electron behavior and heavy fermion systems. This work bridges fundamental condensed matter physics with materials science, exploring quantum criticality and unconventional superconductivity in actinide compounds.

Dr. Vališka supervises bachelor's and master's theses while leading externally funded research. He serves as principal investigator for GAČR project 22–22322S and participates in the GAČR JUNIOR STAR team 21–24965M, demonstrating active grant acquisition and team collaboration.

His research infrastructure includes experimental facilities at Charles University and ongoing collaboration with Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, leveraging neutron scattering and low-temperature measurement techniques for condensed matter studies.
