Paolo Quattrone is a Professor of Accounting, Governance and Society at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. Previously, he held roles at the University of Edinburgh Business School (Chair of Accounting, Governance and Social Innovation; co-director of the Centre for Accounting and Society), IE Business School (Madrid), and Saïd Business School, Oxford (Reader in Accounting; Official Student of Christ Church). He is an Associate Fellow of Oxford Saïd and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow of Italian Studies at Oxford. His work spans accounting, governance, and management control systems, with a focus on decision-making under radical uncertainty, historical administrative practices, and sustainability reporting.
Research explores how accounting visualizations influence governance and strategy, particularly in complex organizations. He investigates the role of Jesuit administrative practices in shaping modern accounting, blending historical analysis with contemporary challenges like environmental accountability. His work has appeared in top journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society and Administrative Science Quarterly.
Awards include the OxTALENT 2018 Innovative Teaching and Digital Award (Runner-Up) for his contributions to the Major Projects Leadership Academy. He is an editorial board member of Accounting Organizations and Society and has advised on global initiatives like the Capitals Coalition's nature visibility in accounting frameworks.
Teaching focuses on governance and reporting in major programme management, emphasizing collective intelligence and change management. He co-founded the Oxford Initiative on Rethinking Performance and collaborates with institutions like the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship.
