Paolo Mazzarello is a Full Professor of History of Medicine at the University of Pavia since 2011 and a Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study of Pavia since 2005. He focuses on the intersection of History of Medicine, Neuroscience, and History of Science.
- 1998-2001: Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Pavia and National Research Council
- 2001-2011: Associate Professor at the University of Pavia
His research highlights include reconstructing the legacy of Camillo Golgi (Nobel laureate, 1906) and analyzing the influence of scientists like Lazzaro Spallanzani on literature. He has authored influential works such as "Il Nobel dimenticato" (2006) and "Il professore e la cantante" (2009), which have been widely reviewed.
Mazzarello's publications span journals like Nature, FEBS Letters, and Brain Research Bulletin, with themes including cell biology, neurohistory, and science-literature interactions. He has received multiple academic prizes, including the "C. Angelini" Prize (2006) and "C. Cantù" Prize (2007).
