Giuliana Mancuso is an Associate Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Bologna since 2024, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy. Her research focuses on ethical objectivity, phenomenology (particularly Max Scheler and the Marburg School of neo-Kantianism), and metaethics. She earned a Master’s in Philosophy from the University of Milan (2001) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Philosophical Hermeneutics from the University of Turin (2006). She holds national habilitation for Associate Professorships in Theoretical, Moral, and History of Philosophy (2018).
Her work examines ethical non-naturalism, particularly Scheler’s phenomenology’s role in shaping ethical theories, challenging traditional Husserlian interpretations. Key publications include Il giovane Scheler (2007, awarded the Opera Prima Prize) and La metaetica (2024). She collaborates internationally on projects like the Franco-German SympaSoli initiative on Scheler’s social phenomenology.
- Teaching: Theoretical Philosophy (Bachelor’s programs in Anthropology/History), Metaphysics (Master’s), and Philosophy Laboratory.
- Research: Over 50 peer-reviewed works, editor for journals like Discipline Filosofiche, and member of the Max Scheler Society.
