Paolo Carta

Paolo Carta is a Full Professor of History of Political Thought and Political Theory at the University of Trento, serving as Dean of the Faculty of Law since 2022. He holds additional roles as Professor of Leadership at the School of Innovation and has been affiliated with Columbia University's Italian Academy since 2011. His research focuses on leadership, cultural diplomacy, Machiavellianism, and legal pluralism. Carta earned his PhD in History of Political Thought from the University of Perugia in 1999. He has held visiting positions at institutions like Columbia University, the University of Oxford, and the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon.

Labs/Teams: Member of research groups like Des mots et des gestes aux XVIe-XVIIe siècles (Paris 3) and CIRRI (University of Paris 3–8). He also chairs the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione De Marchi.
