Paola Martinuzzi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Her academic qualifications include National Scientific Qualifications for Associate Professor roles in French Literature (10/H1) and Performance Disciplines (10/C1). She holds a PhD in Modern Philology (2006) and has extensive editorial roles in journals like Archivio d'Annunzio and L'Universo Mondo.
Her research focuses on French theater and performance history, with particular emphasis on the Renaissance and 18th century. Key areas include theater historiography, dance in performance, and literary adaptations. Projects include the PRIN PNRR project on translations of classical texts in 16th-century France and the Digital Pléiade initiative.
Publications span over 30 years, with recent works analyzing Orlando Furioso's French adaptations, Louis-Sébastien Mercier's educational theater, and early modern dance practices. Her articles often bridge textual analysis with performance history, exploring how Renaissance and Enlightenment works shaped modern theatrical forms.
Martinuzzi collaborates internationally with institutions like the Centre d'Études des théâtres de la Foire and has presented at conferences on topics such as Ballets-pantomimes, Comédie-Italienne studies, and Renaissance intertextuality.
