Panpan Gao

Panpan Gao is a Lecturer in Chinese at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Global Languages department. She teaches introductory courses in the Regular Language Track and advanced courses in the Streamlined Language Track, with a focus on Chinese linguistics, educational technology, and curriculum design. Gao also developed and leads the course 21G.120 Business Chinese.

Prior to joining MIT in 2017, she taught Chinese at Harvard Beijing Academy and Harvard University, and annually instructs at Middlebury Language Schools’ summer programs. Her pedagogical work emphasizes innovative language instruction, integrating educational technology and business-oriented curriculum. Gao co-authored Expressive Chinese: Culture and Communication in a Changing China (Cheng & Tsui, 2021) and regularly presents at academic conferences on technology-driven language education.
