Kang Zhou is a Lecturer in Chinese at MIT's Global Languages department. He teaches across all levels of the regular curriculum and lower-intermediate streamlined tracks. Since 2018, he has developed and led 21G.111: Chinese Calligraphy. Prior to MIT (joined in 2015), he taught at Brown University, Harvard University, and Middlebury Language Schools’ summer program.

Research interests include instructional technology, project-based learning, fostering classroom communities, and integrating asynchronous materials into language learning. He co-authored Beginning Mandarin Chinese Characters (2019) and Intermediate Mandarin Chinese Characters (2021) with Haohsiang Liao, and frequently presents on Chinese pedagogy at professional conferences like CLTA and ACTFL.
His pedagogical innovations emphasize blending traditional practices (e.g., calligraphy) with modern tools for effective language acquisition.
