Jianjun He is an Associate Professor in Chinese Studies and Director of the FLIE Program at the University of Kentucky. He holds affiliations with Modern & Classical Languages Literatures & Cultures, Chinese Studies, Global Asias, and Foreign Languages and International Economics (FLIE). With over 30 years of teaching experience in China and the U.S., he specializes in Chinese language, literature, and culture pedagogy.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Chinese Literature, University of Oregon (2007)
- M.A. in East Asian Languages and Literatures, University of Oregon
- B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature, Northwest University, Xi'an, China
Research Interests: Focuses on early Chinese intellectual history, classical poetry analysis, and late-imperial vernacular fiction studies. Actively engages in pedagogical innovation through conferences like ACTFL and CLTA.
Professional Activities: Directs KIIS China summer programs, leads study abroad initiatives, and collaborates with Chinese institutions such as Northwest University and Nankai University. Former Academic Director of WKU's Chinese Flagship Program.
Personal: Enthusiastic runner completing marathons, aiming for Boston and New York marathons.
