Panagiotis (Takis) D. Alexopoulos

Panagiotis (Takis) D. Alexopoulos is a Professor at the Department of Sports Organization and Management within the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life at the University of Peloponnese in Sparta. He serves as Director of the iSportManagement Laboratory and is an elected member of the University of Peloponnese Board of Directors since 2022.

His educational background includes:

• Graduated from the 1st Public Lyceum of Amaliada with honors in 1981
• Bachelor's degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1985
• Postgraduate and doctoral studies completed in England and Romania
• Awarded Doctorate in 1999

Professor Alexopoulos specializes in sports management with particular expertise in professional football organization, professional sports organization, sports betting organization, and futsal organization. His research focuses on the organizational aspects of sports administration, with emphasis on structural and operational frameworks governing professional sports entities. His work bridges theoretical sports management principles with practical applications in the Greek sports industry context.

As Director of the iSportManagement Laboratory, Professor Alexopoulos has established significant collaborations with numerous organizations including the Deputy Ministry of Sports, Spyros Louis Olympic Stadium, National Center for Public Administration and Local Government, Hellenic Football Federation, Municipality of Sparta, and several football clubs including PANATHINAIKOS FC. Under his leadership, the laboratory has organized important academic events such as the 3rd International Conference on Sports Betting and scientific conferences addressing post-pandemic sports management challenges.

Professor Alexopoulos has held multiple administrative roles including Dean of the School of Human Movement and Quality of Life (2018-2021), Deputy Chairman of the Department of Sports Organization and Management (2017-2018), and has been a member of the University Research Committee since 2018. He has taught in the Master's program "Organization and Management of Sports Organizations and Businesses" since 2008 and serves on its coordinating committee.
