Pamela Voekel is an Associate Professor of History and Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies (LALACS) at Dartmouth College. She is a founding faculty member of Freedom University Georgia and co-founder of the Tepoztlan Institute for the Transnational History of the Americas. Her research focuses on religion, politics, and transnational history in Latin America, particularly Mexico and Central America. She has authored two books, including the award-winning *For God and Liberty* (2022) and *Alone Before God*, and has been recognized for her scholarship and advocacy for underserved students.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in History from the University of Texas; B.A. in History from Mount Holyoke College.
- Awarded the 2022 LASA Nineteenth-Century Section Best Book Award and the Thomas McGann Memorial Prize.
- Co-founded the Patrona Collective to support graduate students in colonial Latin American studies and Freedom University Georgia, which provides education to undocumented students.
Her work bridges academic research and community activism, emphasizing the intersections of religion, capitalism, and social justice. She teaches courses on colonial and modern Latin America, transnational history, and the political life of religion.
