Pamela J. Surkan is a Professor of International Health at Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her work focuses on social epidemiology, maternal and child health, and mental health interventions in global contexts. She holds a ScD from Harvard and a PhD from the Karolinska Institute. Current affiliations include the Center for Global Health and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights.
Research interests span social determinants of health, maternal mental health, child development, and behavioral interventions. Notable projects include studies in Brazil, Sweden, Haiti, Nepal, and Pakistan. Awards include the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship and the Fulbright Grant.
