Pamela Hayward is a Professor in the Department of Communication at Augusta University's Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She specializes in communication pedagogy, rhetoric, and interpersonal dynamics. Her teaching focuses on public speaking, persuasion, and theoretical perspectives in communication. Dr. Hayward holds a Ph.D. in Speech and Rhetorical Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2000), an MA from the same institution (1990), and a BA in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from Northeastern Illinois University (1981).
Her research explores innovative teaching methods, such as integrating TED Talks into curricula and using creative assignments to engage students. She has been recognized with awards like the Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service Award (2021) and multiple teaching accolades from her students. Dr. Hayward actively serves on numerous committees, including chairing the Lectureship Search Committee and advising the Lambda Pi Eta honor society. She also contributes to university-wide initiatives like the Center for Social Science Research and the 3MT Competition.
Her service extends to military student advocacy and community engagement, including roles with the AU Department of Military Services and the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
