Pallavi Sriram

Pallavi Sriram is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Colorado College, joining in 2018. Her interdisciplinary work bridges dance studies, transnational socio-political analysis, and global histories with a focus on South Asia and Afro-Asian worlds. She holds a Ph.D. in Culture and Performance from UCLA (2017), an M.A. from UCLA (2010), and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Dance from Northwestern University (2010).

Research Interests: Dr. Sriram explores dance's role in socio-political transformations, particularly in 18th-century South India, developing the concept of 'performative geographies' to analyze translocal artistic exchanges. Her work challenges colonial historiographies by emphasizing dance as a dynamic relational practice. Current research expands into Indian Ocean Afro-Asian connections and early modernity.
