Professor Pablo Ruiz is a Professor of Applied Optics and Photonics and Director of Innovation and Impact at Loughborough University. He leads the Optical Engineering Research Group and participates in the Mechanics of Advanced Materials Research Group. His academic journey includes roles as PDRA, Research Fellow, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Reader before becoming a Professor.
Education: BSc (1st class) in Physics from the National University of Salta (UNSa) and Optics Research Centre (CIOp), Argentina (1996); PhD in Physics (Honours) from the Rosario Institute of Physics, Argentina (2002).
Research focuses on optical engineering, photonics, speckle pattern interferometry, and advanced material mechanics. Key contributions include patents in profilometry and distance measurement technologies.
