Dr. Pablo Olmos serves as the Bibby College Assistant Professor in Economics at St Catharine's College, University of Cambridge, joining the Fellowship in 2023. His research examines the relationship between time allocation, income, and economic development through analysis of time use diaries across diverse income and educational groups in developed and developing economies.
Dr. Olmos holds a PhD in Economics from Yale University, specializing in Economic Development and Econometrics, where he also served as a Teaching Fellow. Prior to academia, he spent five years as a Senior Associate at Charles River Associates, providing economic consultancy for high-profile competition cases.
His current work identifies critical time-use patterns linking income inequality to wellbeing, while a parallel research strand investigates how reduced working hours affect worker wellbeing and firm productivity. This dual focus bridges theoretical economic analysis with real-world labor policy implications.
Dr. Olmos has received significant recognition including:
- Richard J. Bernhard Fellowship (Yale University)
- Malcolm Urban Fellowship (Yale University)
- Economic Growth Center Fellowship
He maintains an extensive teaching portfolio spanning introductory to advanced courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Financial Markets, Mathematics, and Econometrics. While specific graduate students aren't listed in available sources, his Yale Teaching Fellowship and current position indicate active mentorship responsibilities within the Faculty of Economics.
